Inhabitant Application Process
We are so very excited that you have decided to apply to become an inhabitant!
This application page will walk you through the process step by step.
STEP 1
It is vital for the “right” applicant to be invited to become an inhabitant. Someone who is not fit for whatever reason can have catastrophic consequences for the community and the applicant. However, there is no “perfect” applicant, no “perfect” fit for a “perfect” community house. We are all imperfect humans who need grace. We encourage you to pause and pray before proceeding to the Application Form. Invite the Holy Spirit to inspire and guide you.
STEP 2
A National Criminal Background Check will need to be done by the applicant. Applicants who are US citizens with a social security number are requested to use the self-administered background check through SentryLink and share their report with Gospel Community.
An applicant who is not a US citizen will need to provide a background check from their country of residence/origin.
An applicant will not be considered without an accompanying background check.
All background check reports are held confidentially/securely and will not be shared.
Reports are to be emailed to hr@gospelcommunity.life
STEP 3
Initial Interview either in-person or via video call with Gospel Community founders Paul & Bobbi Wichterman. A “get to know you/tell us your story” conversation-style interview. This interview may involve follow-up questions to the application. This is also an opportunity for the applicant to ask questions about the organization.
STEP 4
A House Visit either in-person or via video call. The applicant will be invited to attend an evening at the community house (either in-person or virtually) for a tour and participate in a community meal. This is an opportunity to ask questions and get to know the inhabitants.
After the meal (or possibly at a later date) there will be a follow-up interview with Paul and Bobbi that will likely involve questions about lifestyle, expectations, and how the applicant intends to align with the community’s values.
STEP 5
Reference Interviews will be conducted and the application will be presented to members of the Gospel Community Board of Directors to be discussed. The Acting Officers will have a vote of
yes | no | not now.
A vote of yes may be accompanied by caveats if the Board of Directors has any areas of concern.
