TOGETHER read the devotional and the scripture.
INDIVIDUALLY take notes in your journal on what stands out.

Hebrews 13:1-3 (NIV) Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

TOGETHER pray for one another.

INDIVIDUALLY answer the questions in your journal - process your devotional notes and pray.

  • Why is hospitality so important for a community?

  • What prevents us from extending hospitality to others?

  • Pohl says that “sometimes welcome must be limited and distinctions made.” How does this square with the ideal of unconditional love and God’s great mercy?

  • Pohl ends with some tough questions. Discuss them. Are there other questions you might add?

PRAYER:
Lord, your good news brings healing to our bodies, minds, and spirits. Teach us the necessity and power of asking the right questions, and help us live the answers as living members of that new social order, which is your body. Amen.
